We, the Kappa Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc would like to take this moment to thank each of the young ladies who participated in our 4th Annual MISS BLACK AND GOLD PAGEANT!! We would also like to take this moment to give our heartfelt thanks to the pageant coordinator, Bro Brandon Lamar Clark. You did an EXCELLENT Job, Brother, and you are appreicated!! An EXTRA SPECIAL thank you goes out to the LOVELY and TALENTED MISS MARGARET TURNER, Director of the Upward Bound Program here at Kansas State University, and Pageant Co-Coordinator for the past 4 YEARS!!!!! This pageant would not have been possible without both of your hard work and dedication. For that, we are eternally grateful!!!

To open the show, the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Tau Chapter take a moment to give tribute to the beautiful women who are about to grace as the stage, as well as all the lovely ladies in the audience. As the spoken word song "Pretty Black Woman", by Ammon Rashidi, plays in the background the Brothers pass out golden carnations to all of the women in the audience and the Pharaohs of the Nile escort the pageant contestants to center stage.

Now LET THE SHOW BEGIN!!!!

After the opening number was performed the ladies competed in the areas of Career Wear & Personal Introduction, Swimwear, Talent, Formalwear, and Question and Answer. We are still looking for photos from all of these catagories so PARENTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, if you have photos that turned out well from the night of pageant and would like to see them on the website feel free to drop us an email so we can get them uploaded!!

The evening went extremely well and those who had the AWESOME task of judging these young ladies certainly deserve their due praise!! We know that it was a VERY difficult job!! Thank you all so much and we salute you!!

When it is all said and done......the time has come for the awards and the crowning of Miss Black and Gold 2002!! As shown above the lovely Queen Talia Toles takes home the title of Miss Souvenir Book!!
