New Title: My Japanese Coach
Finally the US publisher of Nintendo DS games have figured out japanese games are so much better then ours! They actually are helping you learn Japanese so you can buy the import version. Well not really but, i really want the Death note games in english. The japanese version is so hard. Way to much kanji.
When I first got my ds I drooled over the cover art of the new Japanese DS games. I waited and waited for them to come to America. But.... Well lets start here: in Japan the DS is not targeted to grade school students High school students seem to be the target audience. So the games are mature and more involved meaning the Kanji level is harder.
When i first got my DS it took about 6 months to get the titles in the US after the Japanese release. That is if US got the title at all. A good way to tell at the time was: if Europe released the title before the US then the US turned down that game. This is because because of the higher standard of editing/censoring, so if they get done before the US release then that means the US publisher didn't pick it up.
For the first 6 months out of all the games that I had my eye on, only 3 got translated and one only in the UK.
But in the last 3 months things have changed. Almost every title that comes out in Japan is getting translated and released at breakneck speed. I'm surprised they got so fast since almost all japanese games have a crap ton of reading. There is hope that I will be saved from claming pokemon as the best DS title in the US.
Then again nothing beats the red, blue and yellow Pokemon cartridges. I still love them and my dad cringes every time he hears the poly harmonic music.
R4 cartridge
Well if you have ever talked with me about the NDS, I'v probably mentioned the R4card. Its a fun little gadget you can get. It allows you to play homebrewed games and movies on my NDS.Paper NDS!!
