Handicap Ramp - Spring, 2004: Members and officers of AGC teamed up to build a handicap ramp for a local Manhattan family. The project was started and finished in three-day period. Workers helped to first clear the old ramp that had been worn, then dug out the area for a slab just off of the driveway to ease with turning. The next step was to set the forms for the slab, dig post holes, then level and set the posts that were the start of the ramp. Workers then began mixing concrete and pouring the slab. After a period of waiting, they finished the slab, dug the remaiing post holes and set them. After all posts were firmly in place, railings went up, as well as new decking to finish the job. The job was finished to specification with requests to leave the side open for new steps that the owners wished to install on their own. |
