More about the hotel...
This building has both state and federal historic
landmark status. The original building was
built in 1915 and owned by George E. Muehlebach who
also founded Muehlebach Beer and built Muehlebach
Field. When the Marriott Corporation assumed
control of the "original" Muehelbach in 1996, it
spent two years and millions of dollars restoring it
in accordance with guidelines for historic
structures. The original Muehlebach Hotel
lobby and registration desk with "pigeon hole"
mailboxes, "sit-down" phone booths and period lamps,
was restored by Marriott to meet historic
preservation standards.
