Assistant Director, Office of Affirmative Action

 

Kansas State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director, Office of Affirmative Action, a full-time, 12 month, regular appointment with eligibility for promotion to Associate Director.

Kansas State University, a land grant doctoral research institution with 20,000 plus student body and over 5,000 faculty and staff, located approximately 130 miles west of Kansas City. Manhattan has excellent schools, and hosts many cultural, recreational and social activities.

Responsibilities

Research, design, and present EEO/AA workshops, seminars and training sessions to search committees, department heads, supervisors, employees, university committees, and residential living groups. Interpret K-State AA/EEO policies and procedures, federal and state equal opportunity and affirmative action regulatory requirements.

Review and approve recruitment plans, advertising placement, application deadlines, search committees for faculty and unclassified professional positions. Advise search committees, deans and department heads on recruitment/search strategies and interpret search policies, procedures and guidelines. Review applicant ratings and veterans' preference, authorize interviews, determine reasons for selection decisions, and approve job offers and selection decisions.

Advise applicants, employees, students, faculty and administrators concerning AA/EEO policies and procedures and complaint resolution procedures, and refers persons to the appropriate office or person best suited to address the issues presented. Represent the office on university committees and task forces.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's and one year professional experience in human resources or employee relations, including training. Knowledge of AA/EEO laws, executive orders, regulations and guidelines. Competency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet. Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with diverse groups and individuals; develop and present AA/EEO training; interpret and apply AA/EEO laws, executive orders and regulations; write clear, concise, accurate reports; and handle confidential information with discretion .

Preferred:

Master's degree. One year professional AA/EEO experience, including training.
