Tuberculosis TestingOur mission at Kansas State University is to provide quality health care for all K-State students. Because preventive health care is a part of our mission, the K-State Administration has adopted a mandatory tuberculosis testing policy. The policy may be read here.Tuberculosis testing is required for all students who have spent more than four months in a country with a high incidence of tuberculosis. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM HIGH-RISK COUNTRIES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENROLL IN K-STATE COURSES UNTIL THEY HAVE COMPLETED TESTING. Tuberculosis testing must be done in the USA. Test results from outside of the United States will not be accepted. To ensure that you can enroll on time, GO TO LAFENE HEALTH CENTER, (the campus student health care center) for testing AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE AT K-State. Testing is free but if your skin test is positive, you will be required to have chest X-ray for which there is a fee. You may bring a current X-ray from your home country but an X-ray report will not be adequate. If you are tested in the United States prior to arriving at K-State, bring the results to Lafene Health Care Center as soon as you arrive at K-State. A word of caution: HEALTH CARE IS VERY EXPENSIVE IN THE UNITED STATES. If an abnormality is found on TB testing, it is important that you have purchased insurance prior to testing. You will not receive insurance reimbursement for medical fees if your insurance policy is not effect prior to testing. Please BUY HEALTH INSURANCE prior to or AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE AT K-State. We recommend the Kansas Board of Regents policy. To purchase this policy, contact the representative by telephone at 785-532-2255 or by visiting their web site and submitting your information. Their web site is http://www.student-resources.net The following list of countries have a low incidence of TB. Students from these countries do not have to be tested. If your country is not listed below, you must be tested. American Region: Western Pacific Region:
