Dakota Baccus

Junior in political science (pdf)
Minneapolis, Kansas

“I love that my classes don’t feel like I’m just reading out of a textbook. My political science classes tie in with a lot of current events, and my professors find ways to apply what we’re learning to real life.”

Activities

New Student Services ambassador, campus tour guide and mock trial team member

Number one

Everyone here genuinely cares and wants to see you succeed. Coming from a small town, that atmosphere was important to me. At K-State, I don’t feel like just a number; I feel like everyone has my back.

Right on track

I want to eventually go to law school and become a lawyer. I’m really interested in politics, and maybe someday I’ll run for office. I joined the mock trial team last year, and it’s been great to get a taste of the flow of a trial and the courtroom environment.

Aiming higher

Some of my favorite memories at K-State have been football games—tailgating is amazing. But, it’s also been fun to get into new sports I didn’t know a lot about in high school, like volleyball and soccer. It’s a lot of fun to join in to a whole new part of Wildcat pride.
