Social work major from Wichita, KS
I didn't know many people before coming to K-State. After I got here, I realized that if I wanted to become somebody and make those relationships with people, I was going to have to get out there and show my face.
Leadership studies is my minor. With the leadership studies program, I was able to learn who I was as a person and what I could do. Leadership studies taught me that being a leader is more than just helping. It's within yourself and makes you focus on your own personal skills.
I consider myself a big go-getter. Getting involved in things like leadership studies and Black Student Union opened a lot of doors for me and helped me realize who I am. I wanted to be a mentor through BSU because I have a passion for helping people. I want to help them and show them things they may not have thought of or show something in a new light.
When I joined my sorority, I did some research beforehand. I was interested in the organization and what they did. I really liked that their main purpose was to serve, and I wanted to be a part of that.
Life on a college schedule
I have to use a planner to keep track of all the things I do. That way I'm able to balance my work and school, and everything works out. It allows me to plan ahead.
