English

(including literature, creative writing, and literature with teaching certification)

Students in English learn how to think critically, reason carefully, communicate effectively, and appreciate excellent writing and thinking. An English degree helps prepare students for careers in editing, publishing, journalism, and technical or imaginative writing. It is an excellent pre-professional degree for medicine, dentistry, law, business, administration, and university-focused research, scholarship, and teaching. English majors often pursue careers in public service, education, and government as well as private industry.
