Start Exploring
Getting to know your interests, abilities, and values is the first step in deciding on a major or career path. Taking a career assessment is one way to begin the exploring process. ACIC offers two free career assessments:
ACIC career assessments
DISCOVER
- DISCOVER helps you assess yourself, explore options, and acquire information so you can take action. With hundreds of occupations and majors to sort through before you can plan your future, it is helpful to have a guide or map to organize the possibilities. The World-of-Work Map is used to organize information in DISCOVER, and it is helpful to explore before taking the assessment.
- Stop by 14 Holton Hall to meet with a career specialist and receive your free access code. After the career specialist shows you around the site, you have access to the career database 24/7.
- Watch our "DISCOVER Assessment Tour" video below, which will show you all that DISCOVER has to offer and help you effectively and efficiently use it to help you explore majors and careers.
Self-Directed Search (SDS)
- Whether you are looking for a college major, beginning a job search, or thinking about a career change, the SDS will provide valuable career information. This assessment helps tie your personal work preferences to corresponding work environments.
- Stop by 14 Holton Hall to meet with a career specialist and take the free Self-Directed Search, or take it online now. Please note -- when you take the assessment online, you will be allowed to answer questions, but a fee will be required to obtain your results.
