Proctors and Test Taking Accommodations

Exams are administered in a variety of formats for students enrolled through DCE, and the format of the exam should be considered when requesting test taking accommodations. Students should consult their syllabus or ask the instructor to determine exam type.

Proctored Exams

Students enrolled in courses offered through DCE are responsible for finding an appropriate proctor, whether local or distant. The Proctor Agreement form can be found at the DCE website.

The Division of Continuing Education Student and Faculty Services coordinates the distribution of paper exams as well as passwords for electronic exams and will communicate directly with the proctor. Student and Faculty Services is copied on all accommodation letters. If a proctor is necessary, a copy of the accommodation letter will be emailed, along with the exam, to the proctor, as verification of approved accommodations.

The Student and Faculty Services also provides proctoring (test taking) services for local students. They are located in College Court Building 146 (on Anderson Avenue, across from Nichols Hall). The Student and Faculty Services is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be reached at 785-532-5575 or 800-622-2KSU. Students must schedule an appointment for the test and should inform Facilitation Center staff of approved academic accommodations at that time.

Online, Timed Exams

If an instructor gives timed exams online, and a student typically receives extended time on exams, the instructor will need to grant an "exception." This means that the instructor will modify the rules for the exam and will assign the student a number of extra minutes according to the accommodation letter. If a student misses an exam or experiences technical difficulties, he or she should contact the instructor immediately.
