With the exception of one year (1997-98), the rate of resignation
prior to the tenure decision was higher for women and faculty of color than
for men.
Tenure Decisions
Data was examined for five cohorts beginning with the new hires for academic years 1989-90, 1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94. These cohorts were followed throughout the tenure probationary period to determine what percent were:
- granted tenure
- denied tenure
- denied reappointment
- resigned prior to tenure
