  1. Other

    Faculty and staff may also be suspended, dismissed or terminated from employment for reasons of program discontinuance, financial exigency, or for just cause related to the performance of or failure to perform the individual's duties or for violation of the reasonable directives, rules and regulations, and laws of the institution, the Board and the state of Kansas or the United States.

  2. Grievance Procedure

    Each Regents institution shall establish and publish grievance procedures for use by faculty and staff in appealing employment decisions of the institution. The procedures shall provide the employee with notice of the action to be taken, the reasons for the action where appropriate, and an opportunity to be heard. A copy of all institutional grievance procedures shall be provided to the General Counsel of the Board for approval prior to becoming effective. u73

 

10. STANDARDS FOR NON-REAPPOINTMENT
  1. Notice of non-reappointment should be given in writing in accordance with the following standards; such standards shall not be applicable to any administrative assignments.

    1. Not later than March 1 of the first academic year of service, if the appointment expires at the end of that year; or if a one-year appointment terminates during an academic year, at least three months in advance of its termination.
    2. Not later than December 15 of the second academic year of service, if the appointment expires at the end of that year; or, if an initial two-year appointment terminates during an academic year, at least six months in advance of its termination.
    3. At least twelve months before the expiration of an appointment after two or more years in the institution

  2. These statements shall apply even during periods of declared financial exigency, unless impossible, in which case notice shall be provided as early as feasible. (3-21-68; 9-21-79; 4-16-82)
