The Office of Academic Personnel is located in Anderson Hall, the university's main administrative building, in room 204. Susana L. Valdovinos, M.A., J.D., is the director of the Office of Academic Personnel. The office reports to the Provost.
The office assists the Provost, deans, department heads and other university administrators in employment related matters relative to faculty and unclassified professionals. The office is responsible for assuring compliance with academic policy (especially as it relates to the University Handbook), federal and state legislation, and Board of Regent's policy. The director assists the Provost with matters related to annual evaluations, promotion and tenure tracking, contract renewal, conflict of interest, phased retirement, shared leave, leave without pay, family medical leave, sabbatical leaves, and delay in the tenure clock. The University Handbook, the Department Head's Manual, and the University Committee Handbook are maintained and updated by this office. The director serves as an administrative liaison to the University Handbook Committee and to the Faculty Senate Committee on University Planning (FSCOUP).
The Virtual Intellectual Property Office is maintained by the director. This site is highly respected around the country. The site can be accessed at http://www.k-state.edu/academicpersonnel/intprop/.
The office also assists the Vice Provost for Academic Services and Technology with computing policy and issues related to information technology. The director serves as staff to the Information Resource Management Council (IRMC) which is responsible for policy development and implementation. She serves on various information technology committees and assists the Vice Provost for Academic Services and Technology in matters related to academic computing.
