Exchange students are required to attend two orientations:
International Student Orientation
During the International Student Orientation, you will be given valuable information regarding immigration regulations, special information for exchange students, as well as the various student services available at Kansas State University and the International Student and Scholar Services office.
Please check http://www.k-state.edu/isss/orientation/for a complete International Student Orientation schedule.
Exchange students will have an additional orientation during the week. This exchange student session is mandatory. Please check the orientation schedule for the date, time and location of this session.
English Language Proficiency Exam
Most exchange students are not required to take the English Language Proficiency (ELP) exam. However, if you do choose to take the ELP exam, please be aware that if you place into a language course, you will be required to complete that course during the semester, along with your other courses. Please do not take the test just to see what your results will be.
Tuberculosis (TB) Testing Information
All international students are required to report to Lafene Health Center, during the scheduled time (as indicated in the orientation packet) to complete a health interview and possibly take a TB test (only those who are not from, or have not recently traveled to “high risk” countries will be required to take a TB test. More information can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/lafene/tb.html.)
During the health interview, all students must fill out a medical history form. Therefore, all students should either bring a list of their past immunizations or, at the time of the meeting, students can have their doctor fax a copy to the health center.
Orientation & Course Enrollment
Orientation & Enrollment for course registration will be on Thursday or Friday the week before courses begin.
If you have not already done so, in order to register for classes, be sure to set up your eID (the first part of your email address @ksu.edu) before attending orientation and enrollment. Your eID is a comprehensive computer ID that will provide access to all your K-State electronic resources, including e-mail.
Check-in for Orientation & Enrollment begins at 8:00 a.m. and activities start promptly at 8:30 a.m. on the ground floor of the K-State Student Union. The program may take until 5 p.m., so plan accordingly.
Even if you have already enrolled in some or all of your courses, you are still required to attend Orientation & Enrollment.
