• Decorated dean: 2016 Distinguished Career Contribution to the Scientific Understanding of Sport Business Award from the American Marketing Association's Sport and Sponsorship-Linked Marketing Special Interest Group goes to Kevin Gwinner, Edgerley family dean of the College of Business Administration. The honor, the highest given by the group, recognizes longtime members of the group for the quality of their scholarship and their willingness to mentor students.

• Best paper: College of Business Administration's Marne Arthaud-Day and Saurav Pathak co-authors award-winning Academy of Management conference paper.

• Forest protector: Kansas Forest Service's Thad Rhodes is Forest Conservationist of the Year.

• Among the best: OnlineEngineeringPrograms.com rates Don Gruenbacher and Medhat M. Morcos, faculty members of electrical and computer engineering, as two of the 25 top professors of electrical engineering in the nation.

• Teaching honor: Ray Buyle, associate professor of architectural engineering and construction science and Tointon Construction management chair, receives 2016 Associated Schools of Construction Regional Teaching Award.

• NSF honor: Rollie Clem, professor of biology, serving as a rotational program officer with the National Science Foundation.

• Career honor: James Goddard, professor of architectural engineering and construction, science receives Associated Schools of Construction Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given annually to an individual who has made significant lifelong contributions to construction education.

• Grammy winner: Assistant professor of music Bryan Pinkall is member of group receiving a 2016 Grammy for choral performance on "Rachmaninoff: All-Night Vigil."

Mustaque Hossain, professor of civil engineering, named recipient of the 2016 Frank G. Erskine Award from the Expanded Shale, Clay and Slate Institute for his outstanding contributions to the use of lightweight aggregate.

• Drawing recognition: Two K-State art faculty members — Gerry Craig and Carlos Catellanos — earn prestigious international honors.

• Best of the best: Mechanical and nuclear engineering professors William Dunn and Terry Beck recognized as two of the 25 top professors of mechanical engineering.

• Top contemporary art honor: K-State's April Bojorquez and Matt Garcia receive prestigious Creative Capital Award to expand their work examining relationships between art, ecology and society specifically.

• Top researcher: Biological and agricultural engineering's Ajay Sharda is the 2016 Conservation Systems Precision Ag Researcher of the Year.

• Top 10 work: Assistant professor of entrepreneurship Saurav Pathak's study, "What motivates entrepreneurial entry under economic inequality? The role of human and financial capital," named one of the top 10 papers of 2015 by Human Relations Journal.

• Best work: A paper by faculty members in management and hospitality management and three hospitality management doctoral students, receives best paper award from the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology.

• Best paper: Interior architecture & product design's Dustin Headley earns best paper award at the 2015 Architectural Science Association Conference.
