*Remember! Anyone and everyone is welcome in AASU, asian or not! We're here to try and spread awareness, promote diversity, and have a blast doing it! =D
In 1991, a small group of students, lead by Jason Ly, felt that the Asian population of Kansas State University needed a strong voice. As a result of their hard work to increase the voice of the Asian population, Asian American Student Union (AASU) was formed and recognized as a prominent student organization at Kansas State University. Asian American Student Union, at Kansas State University, provides cultural activities that will play a positive role in the academic and social atmosphere of K-State students, faculty, and staff. Today AASU has expanded as it is collaborated with other Asian student affiliation such as TSA ( Taiwanese Student Association ) and VSA ( Vietnamese Student Association ). The dragon symbolizes Asian spirit and unification as we go through a joint intellectual effort. The main purpose of AASU is to promote awareness of Asian and Asian American cultures to Kansas State University and the city of Manhattan. AASU advocated and educates diversity. In addition, AASU is a door of opportunity to those who seek leadership skills, friends, character, service, and/or scholarships. |
