Activities 2001-2002August 22, 2001 Transfer Student Workshop - Phi Theta Kappa hosted the 3rd annual Transfer Student Workshop. All transfer students beginning classes at K-State were invited. This year, we partnered with Career and Employment Services to host the event. More than 90 students attended the workshop to learn first hand from current transfer students (Phi Theta Kappa members) about their "tips" for a successful transition to K-State. September 11, 2001 Pizza Party Social - We planned a pizza party to begin the semester, but had no idea what the day would bring. The evening turned into a time of people coming together, and trying to sort out the events of the day. October 26, 2001 Transfer Visit Day - Phi Theta Kappa members were part of a panel discussion to answer questions for prospective transfer students visiting K-State. October 28, 2001 Community Service at Flint Hills Breadbasket - Phi Theta Kappa students arrived at the Manhattan food pantry to unpack, and package food to be delivered to Manhattan residents in need. Unfortunately, the Flint Hills Breadbasket employee did not arrive, and the community service work had to be cancelled. November 16, 2001 Fundraiser - Phi Theta Kappa cleaned Bramlage Coliseum after a K-State basketball game. The group was able to raise $156.00 in only 2 hours! November 27, 2001 Holiday Social - Phi Theta Kappa had a Holiday Social and White Elephant gift exchange while enjoying food and games to celebrate the end of the semester and the holiday season.[pic1][pic2][pic3][pic4] February 1, 2002 Topeka Scarecrows Trip - Phi Theta Kappa attended the Topeka Scarecrows hockey game. A reporter from the Royal Purple Yearbook went along to document the trip, and write a story about Phi Theta Kappa for the yearbook. February/March Scholarship Search - The officers of the Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Chapter are responsible for awarding 10 scholarship awards to incoming Phi Theta Kappa members. The officers review the scholarship applications and letters of recommendation, and then make the decision as to who will receive the $2,000 awards.
Community Service - In lieu of a meeting, Phi Theta Kappa came together to help out at the Manhattan Emergency Shelter. Duties included cleaning out storage sheds, taking inventory of the donated bicycles to the shelter, cleaning up the children's play room, and cleaning out the basement of the shelter. April 22 & 23, 2002 Transfer Enrollment - Phi Theta Kappa staffed a booth at the K-State Transfer Student Enrollment to let new transfer students know about the Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Chapter. New transfer students had a chance to put their names on a mailing list, and pick up a flyer about the Transfer Student Workshop hosted by Phi Theta Kappa on August 28, 2002. April 30, 2002 Cookout at Tuttle Creek - Phi Theta Kappa held a cookout
at Tuttle Creek Reservoir to celebrate the end of the semester. Phi
Theta Kappa members enjoyed hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream as well
as a chance to socialize before finals and summer break.[picture
